Do I need a Visa to visit Liberia?

Yes. Once you are not a Liberian, or naturalized citizen of Liberia, you will need a Visa to enter the Republic of Liberia.

Do I need an appointment to conduct any business at the Liberian Consulate near Minnesota?

Yes, all Liberian and non Liberian citizens need to make an appointment.

How do I arrange for an appointment?

What are the office hours of the Liberian Consulate in Minnesota?

Office hours are between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. The Liberian Consulate does however observe all Liberian and U.S. Federal Government Holidays.

The Liberian Holidays include:

  • February 11th (Armed Forces Day)

  • March 2nd (Decoration Day)

  • March 15th (JJ Roberts’ Birthday)

  • 2nd Friday in April (fast/prayer day)

  • May 14th (Unification day)

  • July 26th (Independence Day)

  • August 24th (National Flag day)

  • November 29th (William V.S. Tubman’s Birthday)

How long does it take for me to receive my Liberian passport?

We estimate a waiting period of 3-6 weeks. The Consulate has to send all documents required for a Liberian Passport to Monrovia, Liberia only after they have accumulated 10 individual passport requests.

What is the waiting period for the processing of a Liberian Visa or any other document?

Generally, the Consulate Staff will be able to process all documents within 5 business days.

Is there a separate fee to expedite my visa application?

Yes, a $50.00 and $75.00 fee applies to expedited visa applications. Expedition takes same day and less than 5 business days respectively.

Who is eligible to apply for a Visa?

Anyone who has a valid national passport together with all forms and requirements. (Refer to consular immigration: Visa section for all requirements)

Can Liberian citizens (parents) apply for their minor children (American Citizens ages Newborn – 17 yrs)

Yes, they have to present the following:

  • Original birth certificate of the child

  • Notarized consent letter from parent/guardian. (Whichever is not traveling with the child)

  • Immunization Records including COVID19 Vaccination

  • Valid Passport at least 6 months

  • Visa Application form

  • Visa Fee

What documents have to be attached with the New Passport application?

The following documents shall be enclosed with each application:

  • One photo on each form and one additional photo if photo was not uploaded at the time of applying

  • Proof of citizenship of applicant(s) (copy of old passport, birth certificate, refugee documents, I-94 form)

  • New Passport Application form

  • New Passport Payment Receipt

  • Original marriage certificate if applicant is married and wishes to apply said change of name

  • A stamped USPS return envelope

What if I was a Liberian before becoming a citizen of America, do I still need a Visa?

Absolutely, once you do not have a valid Liberian Passport, you will be required to acquire a Visa to enter the country.
